ORMA Opens a New Space in Milan with an Exhibition by Ignacio Unrrein and Lucas Simões

A New Chapter for ORMA Between Milan and Latin America

ORMA is pleased to announce the opening of its new space in Milan, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the gallery’s development. The inauguration will be celebrated with an exhibition bringing together Argentine artist Ignacio Unrrein and Brazilian artist Lucas Simões, accompanied by a critical text by curator and researcher Benedetta Casini.

The encounter between the two artists establishes a dialogue between practices shaped by architecture, material transformation, and the construction of both physical and imagined spaces. Through distinct languages, Unrrein and Simões investigate structures, tensions, instability, and processes of transformation, creating an exhibition environment in which matter, memory, and perception are continuously reorganized.

More than the opening of a new venue, the Milan space represents the beginning of a project dedicated to strengthening the relationship between Europe and Latin America. The choice of the city reflects the gallery’s desire to establish a permanent place for encounter, research, and exchange, capable of bringing together artists, curators, institutions, and collectors from different cultural contexts.

Since its foundation, ORMA has looked to Latin America, and particularly to Brazil, as a fundamental point of reference for its identity and programme. The region is understood not simply as a geographical category, but as a complex field of experiences, languages, histories, and perspectives that continue to transform contemporary artistic production.

The opening in Milan expands this commitment, creating an international platform through which the gallery intends to present and support Latin American artistic practices, while encouraging dialogues that move beyond borders and resist homogeneous or simplified readings of the region.

At the same time, ORMA will continue to develop projects in Brazil, with a particular focus on São Paulo. The Brazilian context will remain central to the gallery’s programme through exhibitions and collaborations in its physical space, as well as through art fairs, curatorial initiatives, and projects developed in partnership with local artists and institutions.

The inaugural exhibition with Ignacio Unrrein and Lucas Simões embodies this direction: two Latin American artists whose practices emerge from specific contexts while engaging with broader questions related to architecture, materiality, space, memory, and the ways in which we inhabit the world.

With its new space in Milan, ORMA reaffirms its commitment to building lasting connections across different geographies and to supporting a broader, more complex, and sustained circulation of Latin American art within the international contemporary art landscape.
