Austin Hayman
Austin Hayman (b. 1989) is a self-taught figurative painter whose work focuses on the sense of familiarity, identification, and what it means to feel at ease. Born in Santa Monica and raised in the pastoral landscapes of Santa Rosa, his artistic journey has been shaped by the juxtaposition of these two distinct Californian contexts: the urban energy of Los Angeles and the serene charm of wine country. His paintings celebrate everyday aspects—seemingly banal yet deeply moving—transforming familiar scenes into profound meditations on comfort and connection. This ability has earned him recognition as one of the emerging voices in contemporary figurative art. In 2025 he won the Jackson’s Art Prize and is exhibiting in Europe for the first time.
